NB3N3020DTG (NB3N3020DTG) is a full featured, low power and low noise multi-stage low pass filter. It is designed for clock and timing applications such as Frequency Synthesizers, PLLs and Clock Generators. This NB3N3020DTG is especially suitable for use in automotive, medical, industrial and consumer applications.

The NB3N3020DTG is based on a third order sigma-delta band pass filter. In this design, the filter includes an input stage composed of one branch of the ladder filter, and an output stage composed of the other branch. The input and output stages are separated by a resonance peak generated in the band pass filter. This resonance peak helps to reduce the noise generated by the input and output stages, and improves the linearity of the filter.

The NB3N3020DTG is used to divide a reference frequency generated by a quartz crystal oscillator into an output frequency used in various clock and timing applications. The maximum output frequency is adjustable and can be programmed from 0.1MHz to 380MHz. It features a very low power consumption of 2.5mW, and a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to 125°C. The NB3N3020DTG is available in a 24-pin leadless ESOP- compact package and is ideally suited for high-density board applications.

The NB3N3020DTG has three main blocks: phase-locked loop (PLL), digital phase detector (DPH) and digital phase frequency detector (PFD). The PLL performs the stable frequency division of the PFD output. It consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), filter stage, charge pump, and loop filter. The DPH blocks are responsible for maintaining the stable phase relationship between the reference signal and the output signal of the PLL. The DPH blocks continuously measure the phase difference between the two signals, and dynamically control the voltage-controlled oscillator.
