The NBVSPA017 chip is a 16-bit programmable timer, with a basic frequency of up to 16MHz. At a minimum supply voltage of 4.5V, it can be operated up to -40°C to 125°C with a power dissipation of only 100μA in standby mode. It is designed with an input terminal and an output terminal, both of which can be biased by selecting the operating mode.The NBVSPA017 timer also offers several features which make it attractive for a variety of applications. It has a low power consumption of only 0.9Milliwatts at 1MHz. It also offers Programmable Oscillator Clock Unlock (POLCK), Crystal Course & Access (XCACC) and Partial Power Down (PPD) modes which help reduce power consumption even further. The timer supports up to 8-bit data width, which enables it to be used in a wide range of applications. It also supports a Sampling, Hold and Strobe (SHASS) interface which is suited for power sensitive applications.Working Principle of the NBVSPA017LN1TAG
The NBVSPA017 timer is based on digital pulse-width modulation (PWM). PWM is a technique which enables efficient utilisation of power by controlling the power sent to the load by changing the switching rate of the power supplied to it.In this case, the NBVSPA017 timer generates a train of pulses with a selectable frequency. This pulse-train is used to control a controller, which in turn drives a motor. The pulse-train is used to switch power to the motor, controlling the speed and torque output.The frequency of the pulse-train is set by the NBVSPA017 timer. The timer has three main operating modes, programmable timer (PT), pulse width modulation (PWM) and duty cycle (DC). In each mode the user can select the desired frequency and other parameters to allow a great degree of control over the output.Conclusion
