NC7ST02M5 is a miniature, low-voltage single-pole double-throw (SPDT) logic switch. It is a member of the ultra-low-power, low-voltage switching series in the SOT-23 package, designed to operate up to 1.8V. Switching between two input signals is performed without additional active components. This makes NC7ST02M5 very attractive in low power and cost restricted applications. NC7ST02M5 has a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
Device operation is based on the threshold detection principle, where the logic threshold is determined by the intrinsic structural threshold of the device. This approach is called a “threshold detector”. The NC7ST02M5 is a threshold detector with two independent outputs (labelled OUT A and OUT B). Each of the outputs reflect one of the two input states. There is an enable input, INX, for enabling or disabling switching between the two outputs.
The logic diagram of the NC7ST02M5 is shown below. The pin configuration is A, B, enable (INX), and OUT A and OUT B. INA, INB, and INX can be used as inputs. OUT A and OUT B are the outputs, while Vcc is the power supply. NC7ST02M5 is only enabled when INX is HIGH and the OUT A and OUT B states correspond to the logic levels of INA and INB.
The basic logic of the NC7ST02M5 is as shown in the figure below. Depending on the logic level of INA and INB, OUT A is either HIGH or LOW. It is independent of INX, while OUT B follows INX. When INX is HIGH, OUT B is driven by the logic level of INB, while when INX is LOW, OUT B remains LOW regardless of the logic levels of INA and INB.
NC7ST02M5 is suitable for applications such as power management systems, logic-level converters, and analog multiplexers. It can be used in designs that require low power consumption, low voltage operation, and high speed switching. The input voltage range enables the circuit to operate on limited battery supplies without the need for external voltage conversion.
