| NCP1075PREGEVK is a buck regulator evaluation board using ON Semiconductor\'s NCP1075 which is an integrated, high voltage power switch, employing advanced valley current control technology. The NCP1075 is optimized to reduce EMIs and maintain good loop stability over the entire regulation range, without compromising the power density and efficiency.This evaluation board operates with an input voltage range from 12V to an allowable maximum of 32V. This high voltage allows for the usage of wide input voltage from commercial, industrial and automotive applications. With a peak efficiency of 94.7%, temperature rise is greatly reduced, allowing the device to operate in SMD form without additional heatsink. The device\'s current limit protection, 180° phase shift, better signal to noise ratio and low component count reduces layout designs, simplifies schematic and PCB layouts and reduces board space and cost.NCP1075PREGEVK application field cover such diverse applications as automotive, motor drivers, power management, solar power systems, telecoms, datacoms, IGBT gate drivers and computer peripheral power supplies. It can work in accessories such as lighting, hard drive, fan, some small motor, and multiple switching regulators.The working principle of NCP1075PREGEVK is beneficial to its many applications. The evaluation board works by converting the input voltage to an output voltage required by its application through the process of pulse-width modulation (PWM). This process involves the PWM controller turning the NMOSFET switch ON and OFF at a constant frequency. The switch is turned ON to store the charge from the converter’s input voltage and turned OFF to transfer the energy to the load by recirculating the current through the inductor. As the inductor has a fixed minimum value, the duty cycle is varied to regulate the output voltage. The on-peak switch current could correspondingly range from 0A to an absolute maximum peak output current of 15A.It is evident that the NCP1075PREGEVK is highly beneficial to application fields. Not only is it efficient, increasing system reliability and reducing thermal rise, but also substantially reduces system cost and size through its low component count. With the ability to support an inputvoltage range from 12V - 32V, its wide input voltage makes it suited for the most common commercial, industrial and automotive applications. The efficient power management, PWM process and current limit protection make this a highly efficient and useful device, paving the way for its use in the wide array of applications it has been successfully integrated into. |
