The NCP1200P100 includes the following features:• Quasi-Resonant Flyback Waveform Suppression System: This system provides greater efficiency in terms of reduced losses and improved peak and minimum duty cycle control. • Low Start-up Current: With its low start-up current requirement of 30 mA, the NCP1200P100 offers significant savings in power consumption over traditional power converters.• Protection Features: This device offers several integrated protection features such as Over Voltage, Over Current, Over Temperature and Short Circuit. • On-Chip Diagnostic Features: The device can detect the fault condition and provide accurate status information.• Soft-Start: The soft-start feature reduces the inrush current at start-up and eliminates the audible noise.• Interleaved Power System: The NCP1200P100 supports paralleling of two devices to increase the output power with two individual controllers operating out of phase.Applications of the NCP1200P100

The NCP1200P100 is a PWM switching circuit that integrates a high voltage start-up regulator, a low-power standby regulator, a programmable oscillator, an adjustable output voltage and current limit, and overvoltage protection.The device operates by using a repetitive cycle of sampling the output voltage of the power converter. During each cycle the output voltage is adjusted based on the difference between the output voltage and the reference voltage. The reference voltage is set by a combination of an internal voltage reference, anexternal reference voltage, and a programming resistor. When the cycle frequency is within an acceptable range and the output voltage is above the reference voltage, the device does not make any adjustments and the output voltage remains constant.The device has two output control options: the open loop option and the closed loop option. The open loop option is used when there is no feedback from the power converter output and the output voltage is determined solely by the internal reference voltage and external programming resistors. The closed loop option is used to make the output voltage follow a ramp-up or ramp-down profile. This option allows the device to be used in applications such as line regulation or to provide the flexibility to adjust the output voltage over a wide range.In addition, the device can also be used to control the current in the power converter output by using the programmable current limit feature. This feature allows the user to set the current limit according to their application’s needs and to ensure that the power converter does not draw excessive current from the power supply.The NCP1200P100 also includes an over-voltage protection feature that prevents the output voltage from exceeding a pre-determined level.
