NCP1200P40G is a switching-mode power supply (SMPS) controller for high-power offline applications. It is designed to provide the complete power management solution for AC/DC offline converters up to 75 W and enhance the performance of cost-effective SMPS designs. As a member of NCP1200 family, the NCP1200P40G is capable of providing a required power supply without compromising the reliability, performance, and quality of the new applications such as LED lighting, power adapters, chargers, lighting ballasts, dishwashers and many other home appliances.
The NCP1200P40G is a variable speed, pulse width modulation (PWM) controller for both buck and boost converters with a peak output up to 75 W. It is offered in a 16-pin plastic SOIC package and is RoHS compliant. The NCP1200P40G features integrated long time operating bursts, UVLO, soft start, overcurrent protection, line compensation and sleep mode functions. It also has an adjustable current limit threshold and incorporates the patented ZscalingTM technology to reduce the output power ripple to a fraction of the traditional output.
In addition, the NCP1200P40G has a wide operating voltage range of 4V to 40V and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. The product also has a wide range of frequency control options to optimize the switching frequency to suit the application. Furthermore, the NCP1200P40G provides feedback loop compensation and overvoltage protection to ensure the output voltage remains stable and the product has a fixed dead-time feature to limit noise and EMI.
The working principle of the NCP1200P40G is based on the Pulse Width Modulation technique. It uses an integrated oscillator and PWM comparator to generate the PWM waveforms, which are then fed into the outputs. The frequency of the waveforms is controlled by the application, and the switching waveforms vary depending on the power conditions of the input and output voltages.
