NCP1361BABAYSNT1G is a variable current flyback converter controller from ON Semiconductor. It has on board Emulated Average Current Mode (EACM) control along with cycle-by-cycle peak current limit (PCL) and integrated trimmable accurate voltage regulation. It integrates all the components of a Flyback converter, such as the rectifier, soft-start/DE feedback/bias and current sense resistor into a single package that you can use to power DC-DC converters and offline switchers.Application field
The NCP1361BABAYSNT1G is suitable for a wide range of offline AC-DC converters applications, such as notebook adapters, chargers, PC power supplies and many other power supplies and appliances. Because of its integrated features such as soft-start, PCL, EACM and low-power consumption, the NCP1361BABAYSNT1G also can be used in automotive, air-conditioners, telecom and industrial power supply applications.Working principle
The NCP1361BABAYSNT1G features ON Semiconductor’s Emulated Average Current Mode (EACM) control, which enables fast and accurate line and load regulation over a wide range of operating conditions. The circuit operates in an Emulated Average Current Mode (EACM) to regulate the output current.At the start of an actuating, a DC voltage appears across the rectifier and capacitor while the output is at zero, current is not flowing. This causes the PowerSO-10M package output pin to stay in a low state, which turns on a FET. As the voltage at the output and the rectifier increases, a pulse is generated on the PowerSO-10M package output pin. This pulse acts as an actuating source to turn off the output FET, thus allowing the current to return to the output capacitor. Then the voltage oscillates around the target regulated value, i.e., the output current is regulated.When the output current regulation of the NCP1361BABAYSNT1G is disabled, the output voltage regulation function is enabled, and the output voltage is regulated to the adjustable nominal value. The integrated OPAMP is used to detect the output voltage and compare the voltage with a reference voltage. Based on the result of comparison, an error signal is applied to the output transistor to regulation the output voltage. In addition, it has a soft start function with a programmable soft-start pin to reduce the inrush current of the output stage.In addition, the NCP1361BABAYSNT1G also has a Cycle-By-Cycle peak current limit (PCL) feature to prevent the output FET from being destroyed by the over-current and temperature conditions. This feature sets the maximum current allowed in each cycle and thus the maximum power in the system. The PCL is adjustable so that the user can fine tune the protection.Conclusion
