NCP4682DMU15TCG is one of the latest voltage regulator Linear chips from ON semiconductor, designed for industrial and automotive applications. It is a high-performance linear Voltage Regulator, that combines a dual P-channel MOSFET LP power stage, with the PWM controller, voltage reference and protection circuits. Offered with a wide input voltage range of 5V to 24V, the low quiescent current and high switching frequency operation preserves battery life in mobile applications. The output voltage error is sensed through a resistive divider across the output voltage and is corrected by the suitable ON-times.

The chip also employs a comparator circuit that feature fast responsiveness and provide undervoltage, overvoltage and overcurrent protections.

The soft start time of the NCP4682DMU15TCG can be adjusted by the choose of the external capacitor and resistor connected to the SS pin. An internal ramp generator provides a linear ramp signal which slowly increases the reference signal output. As the output voltage increases, the ramp signal slowly decrease to its nominal voltage, resulting in a gradual increase in the output current.

For optimum performance, the NCP4682DMU15TCG should be used together with the NCP1036 low-side P-channel MOSFETs. This helps to reduce the conduction losses and to achieve higher efficiency and power savings.
