INTRODUCTION The NCP4894MNR2 is a high performance, low-voltage, low-noise operational amplifier designed for audio applications. It provides very high output current capability, low supply current and excellent audio performance over a wide supply voltage range. The device is designed for handheld, portable, and low-voltage audio equipment and provides a high quality audio performance with low supply current. APPLICATIONS ● Audio Systems and Audio amplifiers ● Headphones and Speakers ● Microphones ● Home and Car Audio ● Industrial Applications ● Audio Effects and Equalizers ● Mobile Electronics WORKING PRINCIPLE The NCP4894MNR2 is a very versatile operational amplifier, with an excellent audio performance over a wide supply-voltage range. The functional block diagram of the NCP4894MNR2 operational amplifier is shown in figure 1. The amplifier consists of two sections: an input section and an output stage. The input section consists of two sets of input transistors; a positive input transistor and a negative input transistor. These transistors act as current mirrors, and their outputs are fed directly to the output stage. The output stage of the amplifier is a voltage follower. The output voltage of the amplifier is equal to the input voltage, multiplied by the gain of the amplifier. To achieve the desired gain, the feedback resistor, Rf, is adjusted accordingly. The output stage is also capable of supplying very high output currents, up to ±250mA. Figure 1 – Functional Block Diagram of NCP4894MNR2 The NCP4894MNR2 is designed for low-voltage, low-noise audio applications and provides a high quality audio performance with low supply current. The device features a very low-noise input stage, low input bias current, low-voltage headroom, and a very low input offset voltage. It also features an open-loop gain of up to 500 dB and a slew rate that is greater than 1000 V/μs. The device also features excellent audio performance over a wide supply voltage range.
