1. Description
The NEO-M8U-0 module introduces u-blox's unrestricted dead reckoning (UDR) technology, which can provide continuous navigation without the need for the vehicle to provide speed information. This innovative technology brings the benefits of dead reckoning to installations that were previously limited to only using GNSS, and greatly reduces the installation cost of after-sales dead reckoning applications. Under severe signal conditions, the strength of UDR is particularly obvious. In urban environments, UDR can still achieve continuous positioning even in equipment with antennas installed in the vehicle. In situations where the signal is completely lost (such as in parking lots and short tunnels), useful positioning performance can also be used. With UDR, before the first GNSS fix is available, positioning will begin once the module is powered up. NEO-M8U can be installed anywhere in the vehicle without configuration. In addition to avoiding any electrical connection with the vehicle, the on-board accelerometer and gyroscope sensor also provide a completely independent solution, which is very suitable for rapid product development with reliable and consistent performance. The intelligent combination of GNSS and sensor measurements enables accurate, real-time positioning at rates up to 30 Hz, which is necessary for smooth and responsive interactive applications. The raw high-rate sensor data can be used in host applications, such as driving behavior analysis or accident reconstruction. NEO-M8U includes u-blox's latest generation GNSS receiver, which adds Galileo to the multi-constellation reception that already includes GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and QZSS. This module provides high sensitivity and fast GNSS signal acquisition and tracking. UART, USB, DDC (I2C compliant) and SPI interface options provide flexible connectivity and can be easily integrated with most u-blox cellular modules. The u-blox M8 module uses AEC-Q100 certified GNSS chips and is manufactured in an ISO/TS 16949 certified site. Qualification testing is performed in accordance with the provisions of the ISO16750 standard "Road vehicles-Environmental conditions and testing of electrical and electronic equipment".
