Working Principle

The NIF5002NT1 is a highly integrated power management switch which performs various functions such as switching, current sensing, and under-voltage reporting. The device operates based on a cascaded structure with a control logic, an oscillator, a driver IC and an output switch. The device is operated in two modes – normal and sleep. In the normal mode, it is powered through the main power supply. In the sleep mode, the power consumption of the device is reduced and the reference output is disconnected.

The first stage of the device is the input current sensor. This senses the input current and provides an output to the internal logic circuit. The logic circuit determines the need for load current regulation and communicates the information to the output switch. The output switch turns on or off the load in accordance with the input signals from the logic circuit.

The NIF5002NT1 also has a built-in EMI filter which helps protect the system from noise and interference. The device also provides under-voltage protection.
