NTHS0805N01N4702KG temperature sensors are based on NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistors, which are specialized thermometers that are used to measure temperature in a wide array of applications. Application Field

Working Principle

An NTC temperature sensor is a resistive device that varies its resistance with temperature. It consists of a pair of electrodes attached to a semiconductor material, usually a semiconducting metal oxide. As the temperature increases, the metal oxide generally creates an increase in electrical resistance, which is then measured to detect changes in temperature.

When the NTC temperature sensor is exposed to a heat source or cold source, it will change its electrical resistance accordingly. This change in resistance can be measured and used to detect temperaturechanges. For example, in a food application, the sensor is used to measure the temperature of the food item and detect when it is cooked to a specific temperature. Similarly, in an industrial automation application, the temperature sensor can be used to monitor a motor winding to detect if it is running too hot, and then automatically adjust the speed of the motor to prevent burning it out.

NTC thermistors are more accurate than thermocouples and are available in various forms—such as chip, surface mount, SMT and probe—to suit different applications. They are also cost-efficient and can be used in a wide temperature range.
