OA1-58IV is a single-phase full-wave AC voltage regulator made up of silicon controlled rectifiers (SCR) and supplemented with power capacitance, high frequency reactors, voltage detectors and other auxiliary equipments. It is applied in specific situations for supplying regulated voltage in adjustable ranges from 10 to 22 Volts AC. This voltage regulator is widely used in production lines, electrical equipment, computers, automation control systems, alternating current generators and other applications.

The device consists of an AC input power line, a power transformer, a bridge rectifier circuit, current limiting device, voltage detector, and SCR assembly. The power transformer steps down the input AC to the desired voltage and presents the appropriate load current to the bridge rectifier. As the input voltage changes, the SCRs maintain a constant output voltage by regulating the firing angle of the SCRs. This firing angle is determined by the voltage detection circuit. The current limiting mode of limitation is primarily used for overload protection of the circuit.

The SCR assembly consists of four main components namely, the light emitting diode, the switching transistor, the pulse transformer, and the SCR itself. The light emitting diode is driven by an external source of operating power and turns on the switching transistor when the predetermined level of threshold voltage is reached. The switching transistor in turn triggers the SCR. The induction coil is used to provide a current path for fast switching of the SCR circuit.

The working principle of the OA1-58IV is fairly simple. It is designed to maintain a constant output voltage even when input voltage fluctuations occur. The SCR assembly receives power from the AC input power line and steps down the voltage and presents the appropriate load current to the bridge rectifier. As the input voltage deviates from the predetermined level, the voltage detection circuit triggers the SCR assembly and regulates the firing angle. The regulated firing angle keeps a constant output voltage regardless of the input AC voltage changing.

In conclusion, the OA1-58IV has the ability to provide a constant and regulated output voltage from 10 to 22 Volts AC even with input AC voltage fluctuations. It is composed of SCRs, power capacitance, high frequency reactors, voltage detectors and other auxiliary components and implements the switching principle to maintain the output voltage under various circumstances. Due to its high efficiency and low cost, the device is often used in various production lines, electrical equipments, computers, automation control systems, and alternating current generators.
