The OMAPL138AZCEA3 is a system-on-chip embedded microprocessor developed by Texas Instruments (TI). It combines a ARM9 core with enhanced peripheral functions. It finds applications in a variety of embedded systems, including industrial products, consumer products, medical devices, and automotive electronics.The OMAPL138AZCEA3 is optimized for low-power applications, as well as multitasking, multimedia, and real-time performance. It has a maximum frequency of 300MHz and two onboard compilers. It can be used to create single-board computers, digital signage systems, and for developing code for a variety of embedded applications.The OMAPL138AZCEA3 contains an ARM9 core, a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) core, and a variety of peripherals, including a 16-bit LCD controller, several UARTs, a 10-bit ADC, and GPIOs. The device supports a variety of interfaces, including a USB 2.0 OTG PHY, Ethernet 10/100 MAC, and a PCI Local Bus 2.1 Host/Master Interface. The device has 128Kb of on-chip RAM and can support up to 2Mb of external SDRAM and 64Kb of external ROM.The ARM9 core on the OMAPL138AZCEA3 is an optimized, low-power processor core with better performance than previous ARM7 cores. The processor core is designed to execute 32-bit code in an environment that is compatible with earlier versions of the ARM architecture. The ARM9 core supports three different instruction sets – ARM, Thumb and Jazelle – allowing maximum flexibility for embedded application development.The OMAPL138AZCEA3 also contains a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) core, which provides a dedicated signal processing unit that can be used for physics simulations or any type of signal processing workload. The DSP core can be used to perform a variety of signal processing operations, including fast Fourier transforms (FFTs) and finite impulse response (FIR) filtering. The DSP core is optimized for the ARM9 core, providing an integrated solution for developers who require both an application processor and a signal processor.In addition to the ARM9 and DSP cores, the OMAPL138AZCEA3 contains a variety of peripherals that enable communication with external devices.
