The OP604TX is an NPN phototransistor that has a low voltage operating current range from 0.2 mA to 10 mA. The area of the board is 4.9 mm² and it comes with through-hole technology, enabling easy PCB mounting. It also has a high sensitivity, reverse pin-protected diode, and high speed switching time of 110 ns.

Working Principle Of The OP604TX

The working principle of the OP604TX phototransistor is based on the transfer of electric charge between the collector and emitter. Light energy is incident upon the device and can either be absorbed or reflected back. The absorbed light energy generates excess free electrons in the depletion region, which creates a potential difference between the two regions.

This potential difference causes an electric current to flow through the transistor. The current is proportional to the intensity of the incident light, and the voltage is directly related to the resistance of the device. Thus, the output voltage of the OP604TX will vary depending on the intensity of the incident light.

The current-voltage relationship of the OP604TX is linear, meaning that an increase in the ambient light intensity will cause an increase in the output voltage. This allows the OP604TX to be used to monitor changes in ambient light conditions over time, or to detect the presence of a light source.
