OPA703PA application field and working principle
The OPA703PA is an instrumentation amplifier based on the ultra-low-noise, fully-differential OPA716A high-precision operational amplifier (OP amp) technology. It is designed to ensure high CMR robustness, a wide gain range, high accuracy, and low noise performance. This instrumentation amplifier is used in a wide range of applications, from medical instrumentation, scientific measurement, and DSP systems, to servo control, and audio systems.
The OPA703PA features an extremely high CMR (Common Mode Rejection) of greater than 99dB at 1MHz and less than 2nV/√Hz input voltage noise. This provides a low-noise signal to an amplifier, without losing accuracy. The amplifier provides gains of 2x, 5x and 10x, and two input stages with adjustable offset voltages.
To ensure compatibility with dynamic signal ranges, the OPA703PA offers output voltage gains of up to ± 13V at both the single-ended and the differential outputs. One of the main advantages of this instrumentation amplifier is its dynamic range compensation (DRC) circuit which offers a maximum output voltage swing of ± 13V. This guarantees a dynamic signal range for the OPA703PA and ensures low distortion levels and a greater signal integrity.
The OPA703PA also offers excellent temperature stability and a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +125 degrees Celsius. The amplifier is protected against short circuits, thermal overload and electrostatic discharge (ESD) and includes an internal conditioning circuit to limit the effects of supply noise. In addition, the OPA703PA also offers a power-off function, which turns off the amplifier when the supply voltage is below a certain threshold.
The OPA703PA is also equipped with a power-down feature. This feature allows the amplifier to be turned off when not in use. When enabled, the amplifier will turn off by itself after a certain period of time or when the supply voltage is reduced below a certain level.
The OPA703PA is based on the OPA716A fully-differential operational amplifier. This amplifier has two input stages, one with a single-ended input and one with a differential input. The differential stage is used to provide a more accurate output signal, as it has a higher signal-to-noise ratio than the single-ended stage. The signal-to-noise ratio of the differential stage is much higher than that of the single-ended stage, so it is ideal for signal conditioning applications.
The OPA703PA provides an excellent tool for signal conditioning and general precision measurement purposes. It achieves high accuracy over a wide dynamic range and is suitable for applications that require accurate amplifier linearity over a wide frequency range.
