Working Principle
The OPV282 laser diode module adopts a dielectric-coated semiconductor laser diode as light source. The device is optically pumped and undergoes multiple reflections from the facets of semiconductor. As the light waves travel, they pass through dielectric layers multiple times, which leads to increase of light intensity. These reflections form a high-gain optical cavity and increase the amount of optical energy stored in the optical cavity.
During the operation of laser diode module, the semiconductor material first absorbs the pumping energy from the light source. When the material is activated, it enters the stimulated absorption stage which allows photons to be fully absorbed and reflected. As a result, the light intensity of light source increases, creating a continuous wave of light. This high-intensity light is then emitted from the optical cavity, forming the output of the laser module.
