Thyristors, or silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs), are solid-state devices that use a semiconductor material to control electric current. Thyristors are typically used in applications where high levels of current and/or voltage need to be controlled. One of the most used applications for thyristors is the P0644UCMCRP (Unit Controlled Multiple Circuit Reversing"; Pulsing).

When in reverse mode, the thyristor is used to control the on/off state of a power supply. In this mode, the device is typically connected directly between the power supply and load. This allows the device to turn on and off with no load connected. The P0644UCMCRP is also able to provide pulse-width modulation (PWM) control in order to regulate the amount of current that flows to the load. This is achieved by controlling the amount of on time and off time that is applied to the thyristor.
