Thyristors are four-layer semiconductor devices consisting of NPNP (or PNPP) layers. Used in the field of voltage regulation, speed control and static working of electric circuits, thyristors are an important member of the transistor family. The P2000SCMCRP application field and working principle makes use of a thyristor in order to control the electric power supply.
The thyristor is a type of switch which works by allowing voltage to pass through it in a specific direction when triggered. It consists of four layers, with the N and P layers alternately connected. When current flows through the P layers, it enables the thyristor to be triggered. This process may be used in many applications like motor speed control and AC voltage regulation.
