A thyristor is a semiconductor device which is mainly used for controlling electric power of a system. It consists of a P-N-P-N-P or N-P-N-P-N junction structure which can be used to control the current in a circuit. P2706UBRP Application Field and Working Principle

P2706UBRP is a type of compact, unidirectional 6A silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) device. It has a VDRM of 600 volts, an IT rating of 6A, and a peak surge current of 90A. In the application field, P2706UBRP is mainly used for the control of negative or positive voltages, for controlling and isolation of loads, and for AC and DC circuit protection. The working principle of this thyristor is based on the operation of a two-terminal unidirectional P-N-P-N-P diode, which conducts when the voltage between its anode and cathode is greater than its VDRM.

The P2706UBRP thyristor is triggered and remains “on” when the anode-cathode voltage exceeds the VDRM voltage, such that the internal N-P-N-P-N junction is forward biased. During turn-on, the current through the device increases rapidly from zero, until it reaches the rated IT value at which time the thyristor is said to be “fully on.” The “off” state is achieved by reducing the anode-cathode voltage below the VDRM.
