The P4KE160HE3/54 has been designed as a high-speed, shunt, bidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS), which provides overvoltage protection in a wide range of applications.The P4KE160HE3/54 is specifically designed for low-voltage protection of electronic circuit components from transient over-voltage threats such as ESD (electrostatic discharge), EFT (electrical fast transients), inductive switching, lightning, or direct lightning strikes. The high clamping voltage and fast response time also make the P4KE160HE3/54 ideal for high-speed applications or systems which require rapid over-voltage protection.The P4KE160HE3/54 is an unidirectional TVS device, meaning that it is designed to provide protection from transient voltages from one direction only. This makes it suitable for single-ended line applications, where the transient voltage is expected to occur on a single line. The P4KE160HE3/54 can also be used as a bidirectional TVS device, where the device is configured to protect two lines from opposite directions, such as two power lines. When configured as a bidirectional device, the P4KE160HE3/54 provides protection in both directions up to the maximum specified clamping voltage. This enables the device to protect two lines from each excessive voltages in each direction. The P4KE160HE3/54 is a fast-responding TVS diode, with an ultra-fast response time of less than 2ns. This enables the device to protect sensitive components from over-voltage threats quickly. The device also features an ultra-low reverse leakage current, which reduces power dissipation caused by reverse leakage and enables the device to operate in a wide temperature range.Aside from providing transient over-voltage protection, the P4KE160HE3/54 is suitable for many other applications. The device can act as an EMI filter, providing interference control on signal lines and preventing EMI radiation. Additionally, the P4KE160HE3/54 can also be used in SCR and triac control circuitry, to protect sensitive components from destructive transient voltages. Thus, the P4KE160HE3/54 is a versatile, high-speed, bidirectional TVS diode which provides excellent protection against transient over-voltages and interference.
