P6SMAJ11ADF-13 is one of the TVS (transient voltage suppressor) diodes, or ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection diodes, designed to protect sensitive electronic components from destructive ESD events such as static electricity or power surges. TVS diodes work by diverting, or “clamping”, any voltage spikes on the power line to ground, thus preventing the spikes from traveling downstream to the device under protection. P6SMAJ11ADF-13 is especially well suited for use in high-rise buildings and industrial applications which may be subject to power line transients.
P6SMAJ11ADF-13 is a bi-directional MOS Technologies PN-diode TVS device that is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from electrostatic discharge (ESD) or other voltage transients. It features a snap-off fuse element to effectively absorb large voltage transients. The P6SMAJ11ADF-13 has an extremely low clamping voltage, which means that it will not cause permanent damage to the protected device, even if the transient occurs repeatedly.
The P6SMAJ11ADF-13 offers two different protection modes: the ADF mode and the Z-mode. In ADF mode, the device will clamp high voltage spikes during normal polarity transient events. This phenomenon is often referred to as the “TVS diode effect.” With the Z-mode of operation, the P6SMAJ11ADF-13 will clamp high voltage spikes in both polarities during transient events. This provides comprehensive protection against ESD events and other transients.
The P6SMAJ11ADF-13 is suitable for a wide range of applications including AC/DC power line protection, keyboard and mouse protection, DC/DC converter protection, USB/Device protection, Battery pack protection, Infrared interface protection, Keyboard & Mouse protection, Industrial CCTV systems, and Automotive ECU protection. The device is also compliant with the following standards: UL 62741, EN 61439-2, and IEC/EN 62741.
Due to its low capacitance and clamping voltage, the P6SMAJ11ADF-13 is well suited for applications that require high levels of protection and reliability. In addition, the device is suitable for use in a wide range of temperatures, from -40°C to +125°C, making it ideal for use in extreme environment applications and harsh industrial environments.
The P6SMAJ11ADF-13 has a maximum ESD protection level of 8 kV (contact discharge) and a maximum power dissipation of 1 watt. Its maximum peak pulse current rating is 8 A. It is RoHS compliant and comes in an SO-8 package.
