TVS diodes, or Transient Voltage Suppressor Diodes, are semiconductor devices specifically designed to protect electronic circuits from voltage overload and/or transients, of either polarity, such as those caused by static electricity, lightning, switching circuits, etc. These devices, such as the popular P6SMBJ39C are of the same general construction as GPPs, but incorporate a high level of ESD suppression. It has a maximum Reverse Standoff Voltage of 39V, and a Peak Pulse Power of 600W. The device also has a low reverse leakage current of only 5μA at the rated Standoff Voltage (V R ).
