PEC04SADN is a family of Rectangular Connectors, including headers and male pins, from Phoenix Contact. This family of connectors is designed to ease installation of electrical circuits without the need for soldering or crimping. The primary application includes in-line and bulkhead connections in home automation, networking, and industrial machine-level applications.

Features

The connectors feature an IP67 environmental rating, allowing them to be safely installed in wet or humid locations. The type 04SADN design provides an extremely low profile profile when installed into a wall or panel, allowing the connectors to be placed in tight spaces. The contacts are gold-plated, ensuring the highest levels of electrical contact and signal integrity.

Working Principle

The PEC04SADN is a two part system, consisting of a header and a male pin. The header has two plastic rails with retaining clips on the end. The male pin has guide rails which line up with the header\'s rails. When pushed into the header, the pins are notches in the retaining clips, causing them to click into place, providing a secure connection. The connection is made simply by pushing the male pin into the header, and it is disconnected simply by pulling it out.

Wihle the PEC04SADN connector system offers many advantages over traditional cable connections, it is not a perfect system. The most significant disadvantage is the fact that the connectors are not designed for reuse. Once the male pin is clicked in to place, it does not easily come back out, and if it is forced out, it may no longer fit securely in the header.
