Fixed Inductors

Inductors, also known as coils, are passive electrical components that store energy in the form of an electro magnetic field when electric current flows through them. An inductor is essentially a wire loop, or spiral, with an electric current flowing through it. The PG0642.222NLT is a fixed inductor, meaning that it has a fixed inductance value (6.4 uH), its construction and specifications are designed to control and contain the magnetic field generated. This inductor is particularly suitable for use in applications such as power supplies, communication products, or home appliance products.

Working Principle

The principle behind a fixed inductor is pretty simple. When electric current flows through a loop of wire, it generates a magnetic field which can be harnessed for energy storage. The inductor\'s inductance value dictates how much current can flow through it, and how much of that current can be retained within the magnetic field. This, in turn, affects how much voltage is generated from the electric current.

The inductance of a fixed inductor is determined by its construction - the loop of wire and the materials it is made of, such as ferrite, copper, etc. The more loops, the greater the inductance. The PG0642.222NLT is constructed with an overall diameter of 10.2 mm (0.4”) and a height of 6 mm (0.24”). Its overall inductance value when measured at 100 kHz is 6.4 uH with a tolerance of +20%.

The PG0642.222NLT is designed for use in power supply applications, including switch mode power supplies (SMPS), constant-voltage DC-DC converters, power factor correction (PFC) circuits, and power line protection circuits. It can also be used for communication product applications such as RF power amplifiers, wireless base station power amplifiers, and cellular base station power amplifiers.

In home appliance products, it can be used in temperature controllers, motors, converters, UPS systems, charging circuits, reception machines, and other notebook computer equipments. The PG0642.222NLT can handle continuous currents of up to 25 A.
