The PGA309ASPWT is an integrated single-channel programmable bi-directional current sense amplifier specifically designed for precise bidirectional current measurements in a wide range of application fields. The device supports absolute current measurement using a feedback resistor or incremental current measurement using a shunt resistor. The bidirectional sensing range, gain and output voltage slope can be programmed on-the-fly to suit the application requirements.

PGA309ASPWT Working Principle

The PGA309ASPWT works by measuring the voltage drop across a shunt resistor Rsh connecting across its input nodes VinH and VinL. The device then uses the voltage difference across VinH-VinL to calculate the current flowing through Rsh. The device then uses a programmable gain to convert the current into a proportional output voltage Vout.

The device also offers various features to increase the accuracy and reliability of the measured current, such as programmable gain and output voltage slope, overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection, power-on reset, and low power consumption.
