Fixed Inductors are components which possess the ability to store energy in a magnetic field by creating an electric current when a voltage of certain magnitude is applied and create a magnetic field when a current of certain magnitude is applied. The PL9519NL is a fixed inductor developed by Pulse Electronics Corporation. It has the capability to be used for the following applications and works in principle based on the basic physical properties associated with electromagnetic field.
The applications of PL9519NL include its use in power converters, DC-DC power supplies, charge pumps, electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression, numerous filtering applications, voltage regulation, and level shifting. In addition, the PL9519NL is also utilized in charging applications with the ability to work with 5V and 12V input supply systems. Due to its stable performance, the PL9519NL is able to operate effectively in circuit with high peak currents and voltage.
The working principle of PL9519NL depends upon the physical properties associated with electromagnetic field. Electromagnetic field is a physical phenomenon which refers to an interaction between magnetic fields and electric fields, redirecting and forming a magnetic field in response to electric fields and visa versa. The inductor is an example of device which converts an electric with frequency into a magnetic field. An inductor is composed of tightly wound coil or multiple copper wires which stores energy in the form of magnetic field when current is applied into the windings. This stored energy, known as induction effects or Faraday\'s Law of Induction, would reappear when the current is removed. The inductor is thus able to generate a voltage with an opposite polarity and variable magnitude depending upon the magnitude and rate of the applied input current.
The PL9519NL inductor is composed of winding core cores around a coil of multiple layers of fine copper wire. The combination of the core material and the amount of copper wire used serves as an indicator of the inductance of the PL9519NL. Tuning this parameter will then ensure the inductor will operate within a desired range and will be able to reach a designated frequency. In addition to tuning the inductance of the PL9519NL, one can also tune the saturation point of its core by adjusting the current supplied to it.
