PM-F25

Optical Sensors are devices that detect and measure the intensity of visible, infrared, or ultraviolet energy in a given environment. The light transmitted by an Optical Sensor can be processed through phototransistors, opto-isolators, and photointerrupters. By controlling the amount and type of energy transmitted, they can detect the presence of objects, or measure distances with precision accuracy.

Among the many types of Optical Sensors, Photointerrupters are widely used in automation and object detection applications. There are two primary types of Photointerrupters - Slot Type and Object Type - and both feature a light source and a photosensitive detector. The Slot Type Photointerrupter features an LCD and phototransistor and is used when detecting targets in a narrow range. The Object Type Photointerrupter features a mechanical switch and light source and is used when detecting targets from a wide range.

One example of a Slot Type Photointerrupter is the PM-F25. This device is a Logic Output type that can detect non-contact targets and discriminate presence or absence in a simple and reliable system. It features a UV LED and phototransistor that are capable of detecting multiple target objects passing over the slot and can be triggered from objects with different sizes, shapes, and angles. It also features a directly actuated Output, meaning it uses just the LED and phototransistor to switch the output on or off. Additionally, it offers a low output operation voltage and high speed response of up to 100 kHz, making it applicable for practically any application.

The PM-F25 can be used in a variety of applications. The most common application is in object detection systems, where it can detect the presence or absence of objects precisely and accurately. It is also used in object recognition systems, where it can detect the size, shape, or material of an object when passing over the slot. When an object passes over the slot, the obstruction of the UV light causes the transistor to output a low signal.
