Working Principle

The PM-R65 Slot Type Photointerrupter with Logic Output utilizes the principle of photoelectricity to detect the presence or absence of an object. When the barrier is blocked, the rays of light emitted by the IRED are not able to reach the phototransistor, and a current of zero or close to zero is generated. When the barrier is unblocked, the light rays emitted by the IRED pass through the barrier, setting off a current between the phototransistor and the IRED. The phototransistor acts as a switch that is closely connected to an integrated circuit, which is used to detect the open or closed switch state of the circuit. Depending on the model of the PM-R65, the integrated circuit may be either a PNP or a NPN transistor. The PNP universal logic output triggers when the switch is open, and the NPN universal logic output triggers when the switch is closed. When the switching times of the PM-R65 are within a certain range (usually from 0.3 ms to 1 ms), its output signal will remain stable. This will create an electrical signal, usually in the form of a digital log, which can be used for remote control purposes.
