Working Principle

The input voltage is applied to the power switch. When the switch is opened, the current flow through the inductor increases, creating an electromagnetic field in the core of the inductor. When the switch is closed, the current flowing through the inductor is converted into magnetic energy and stored in the core, which then gets converted into electrical energy by the capacitor and is used as the output voltage.
The control circuit turns the power switch ON and OFF according to the output voltage. When the output voltage is too low, the power switch turns ON and allows the current to flow through the inductor, increasing the output voltage. When the output voltage exceeds the reference voltage, the power switch turns OFF, thus controlling the output voltage. This switching action is repeated many times in a very short period, allowing the regulator to respond quickly to changes in the output voltage.
