PS12013-A Application Field and Working Principle

The PS12013-A is a 25A, 5V digital power driver module capable of driving circuits with up to 10A continuous load current. It is designed for high-efficiency circuit designs and can be used for either output switch control or for regulating output current. The design can be used in many industrial and automotive applications such as controlling motors, high-current LED drivers, battery chargers, and any other high-current output control circuit.The PS12013-A module is based on the PWM (pulse width modulation) and low-side switching technique. The power stage consists of two parts, the power driving stage and the output phase monitoring stage. The power driving stage consists of two stages: one for PWM generation and another for output selection. The output phase monitoring stage contains two differential inputs and their corresponding comparators and low impedance resistor, which are used to detect the phase and amplitude of the AC supply. The PS12013-A can be interfaced with the user\'s controller via either SPI, I2C, PWM or other digital protocols.The PWM stage of the PS12013-A is used to generate a regulated PWM signal of required peri­odic pattern. The output selection stage is used to select between the different output voltages and current levels. In the output phase monitoring stage, the differential inputs and the accompanying comparators are used to detect the phase and amplitude of the input AC supply. Once the AC supply is detected, the user’s controller will adjust its output accordingly.The PS12013-A can also be used for output switch control by driving a PMOS or NMOS switching transistor with its input control terminal. The maximum switch control voltage of the module is 24V and the maximum switch current is 10A.In summary, the PS12013-A is an efficient, reliable and cost-effective power driver module used in a variety of industrial and automotive applications.
