The output transistor is connected to the photovoltaic detector in order to amplify the lightweight signal which is detected, allowing it to be accurately sent to the receiver circuit. The integrated Schmitt trigger circuit acts as a buffer for the output signal, allowing it to be more accurately and reliably sent to the receiver.
