Working Principle
The PS8A0013WE supports a buck–boost design which is particularly suitable for applications that work on input voltages between 3.3V and 15V. It consists of a buck controller, a boost controller, an amplifier (IVO), a buck regulator, a load switch, and other supporting elements. The working principle of the PS8A0013WE follows a three-stage process. Firstly, the buck regulator steps down the input voltage. This process is followed by the operation of the buck controller which continues to provide the same output voltage at a lower current (analogous to low power mode). Finally, the amplifier (IVO) is used to generate a high output voltage and a high current, whereby the boost regulator is used to provide additional support.
Additionally, the PS8A0013WE has an adjustable internal OCP threshold that allows it to keep the current within a specified range.
