DC-DC converters are an integrated semiconductor device used to convert a DC input voltage to a regulated DC output voltage. As a result, a DC-DC converter can be used to regulate voltages, provide power conditioning, boost or invert voltages, store energy, and perform power-factor correction. The PT4501N is a high efficiency, dual output DC-DC converter that can be used for a wide variety of applications.
The PT4501N is a switched-mode DC-DC converter with both primary and secondary outputs. The primary output has an adjustable voltage range of 4.5V-45V while the secondary output has an adjustable voltage range of 0.8V-15V. The converter also features two control options - primary side control and secondary side control. In primary side control mode, the output voltage is determined by the external control voltage and the resistors connected to the pins. In secondary side control mode, the feedback pin is used to regulate the output voltage of the converter.
The PT4501N has an excellent efficiency of up to 95% at low load, and up to 92% at full load. The converter also features a low output ripple noise of up to 0.2% and can operate at a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The pint-sized PT4501N is also RoHS compliant and comes in a small 4-pin SOT-23 package.

The primary side’s output voltage is controlled via the voltage setting circuit, while the output voltage of the secondary side is detected by the detection circuit and regulated by the PWM control circuit. In addition, the over-current protection circuit provides protection for both the primary and secondary sides of the converter in the case of an overload.
