PT5405C works based on a switch mode power supply (SMPS) circuit topology. The internal circuitry contains switches, inductors, capacitors, transformers, as well as special integrated circuits. The input power supply is packed into the input circuitry of PT5405C, where two rectifiers, either Schottky diodes or MOSFETs, are used for isolation and DC voltage bumps. The power supply is then to be conditioned and applied to the MOSFET switches, and then a series of inductor and capacitor elements generate 2 outputs (output 1 and output 2).

The switching of output voltage is controlled by the current flowing through a sense resistor, also referred to as the feedback divider, placed before the output. When the regulated output is lower than the desired voltage, the current will increase, and therefore the switching circuitry will switch on to increase the current and boost the output. Now the feedback loop is completed; and by constant monitoring and timing switching, the target output voltage is achieved.

Finally, the output is expected to be stabilized as DC voltage, and as the noise is filtered out when a large capacitance is applied, the maintained low no-load losses makes PT5405C an ideal choice for industrial applications.
