The Maxic PT6409P, a highly reliable, efficient, and long-lasting DC-DC converter, is a valuable addition to the Maxic family of DC-DC converters for mobile and stationary applications. The PT6409P is the newest member of the Maxic 4000 family of DC-DC converters offering a wide input voltage range of 4.5V–30V with a maximum output power of 6W. It is suitable for powering mobile applications that run off 12V or 24V, such as LED lighting, charge controllers, communications, automotive electronics such as infotainment systems, vehicle-to-grid systems (V2G), and medical devices. The PT6409P is a non-isolated DC-DC buck converter featuring synchronous rectification and over-temperature protection. It is capable of achieving high efficiencies, typically greater than 95%. The product also performs well at high temperatures thanks to its integrated thermal management solution. It can operate in temperatures up to 105°C with derating of 51.5 ~ 82.5ºC, and can deliver up to 6A at ambient temperatures above 45°C.The PT6409P offers a wide input voltage range and low standby current consumption of only 2uA. It also has a wide range of control features such as a pulse-width modulation (PWM) function, soft start, short circuit protection, and output current limiting. The device is also equipped with an adjustable output voltage range and adjustable current limit sense (CLS) options that allow for a wide range of current limitations for maximum power efficiency and safety. The wide temperature range and low output ripple guarantees reliable operation of any application.The working principle of the PT6409P DC-DC converter is based on the principle of buck-boost conversion. The converter operates in step-down (Buck) mode, where the input voltage is greater than that of the output voltage, and in step-up (Boost) mode, where the input voltage is less than that of the output voltage. The converter switches between these two modes to convert the input voltage into a voltage that is higher or lower than the output voltage. The PT6409P converter is an ideal solution for applications requiring high efficiency and reliable performance in harsh environments.
