Working Principle of PT6523P
The PT6523P is designed to convert a single input voltage from a power source to multiple, individually adjustable and regulated output voltages. It utilizes a switching regulator topology to convert the DC input voltage to a stepped down or stepped up DC voltage. The output voltage is regulated via error amplifiers which monitor the input voltage level and adjusts the output voltage accordingly.
When power is applied, an internal switch is engaged and the input voltage is applied to a buck-boost or step-down converter, generating a regulated output voltage. The output of this step is then routed to an electronic switch which is triggered on and off at a high frequency to create the desired output voltage. The error amplifier monitors the output voltage and adjusts the duty cycle of the electronic switch accordingly, ensuring the output voltage remains stable.
The PT6523P has built-in over-temperature and short-circuit protection. When an output over-temperature occurs, the fault protection circuitry disconnects the output voltage from the load and will switch it back when the temperature goes down. Additionally, the short-circuit protection circuitry operates similar to the over-temperature protection but will be initiated if the output voltage is short circuit. If the output voltage is short-circuited for more than 2 seconds, the output is disconnected until the fault protection circuit is reset.
