The PT6645P is a 4-Channel DC/DC Buck (step-down) Converter integrated in a 14-pin TDFN package. It is designed to offer a compact solution to supply power to multiple rails of voltage from a single supply input.

The PT6645P accepts an input voltage of 3V to 12V, and can generate an adjustable output voltage of 0.8V to 5V. With a high power density of 1.2W/mm³, the device can deliver up to 6A continuous current per channel and up to 2.4A peak of output current per channel. Internal soft start and adjustable output voltage slew rate are provided to simplify system design, and minimize output impact due to load transients. The PT6645P is ideal for providing multiple output voltage rails required in portable product designs.

Working Principle

The PT6645P is a Buck converter based on a synchronous step-down design, which utilizes two MOSFETs in a synchronous configuration. During an on-time of the converter, the high-side MOSFET is kept ‘on’ while the low-side MOSFET is ‘off’, resulting in a voltage source to the output. This buck converter also utilizes the On-Time Tracking Mode to ensure the output voltage is accurately regulated and maintained over the complete input voltage range. This is especially important for the PT6645P due to its wide input voltage range.

The PT6645P also features internal soft start, adjustable output voltage slew rate and over-current protection to ensure reliability. Additionally, the device also features thermal regulation to protect against over-temperature conditions.
