Working Principle of PT6937A

The PT6937A is a synchronous buck DC-DC converter, providing highly efficient, low noise and high output voltage accuracy from a wide input voltage. The PT6937A takes advantage of controlled on resistance (Rds) components TO-3, such as FETs, which are connected at the input side of the converter. The FETs are controlled with a single digital pin, enabling the converter to be efficient up to 95%.

The PT6937A integrates the maximal average current (MAC) and Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) control scheme as two separate control loops. The pulse width modulation (PWM) principle is adopted in the MAC control loop, which is responsible for the output voltage regulation.
