When the input voltage is applied, the upper switch connects the power source, inducing a current in the transformer primary side, however, due to the leakage inductance, a voltage spike is generated due to the reflected wave of the switch. To prevent this, the PT6942A has a built-in soft-start circuit to control the slope of the startup current curve, reducing the surge current and its effects.

At the same time, the PT6942A has an intelligent frequency modulator which helps to reduce the switch frequency and hence the output ripple current. The modulator also helps to reduce losses caused by the leak inductance and incorrect parameter selection.

The PT6942A can be used in many applications such as sensing, portable communication equipment, industrial and automotive equipment, and many others.
