PT7M6127NLC4EX belongs to Power Management IC (PMIC) - Supervisors, which are integrated circuits (ICs) designed for monitoring, supervising and controlling electronics power supply. In other words, the supervisors maintain stable power to the system, prevent loss of power, and trap and report system errors. They protect the power supply line by responding to faults or abnormal conditions and keeping the system in stable operating condition.

The PT7M6127NLC4EX is designed to monitor voltage from 1.6 V to 5.5 V rail with an increased accuracy of 0.7%, detect over/under-voltage conditions and generate reset. The supervisor provides an active-high reset output to reset all system logic on a single falling power supply. The reset output activates upon power-up and is asserted for the period which is set by the external capacitor connected to the reset output. It has onchip open capacitor recognition which can detect an open-circuit capacitor, thus providing a visual alert given to the user.

The PT7M6127NLC4EX provides Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO) that detects if the power supply voltage is below a minimum preset voltage indicating low/no flow of power (brownout). It has on-chip UVLO detection levels which are individually programmable and configurable with separate Voltage Up and Voltage Down levels.The UVLO can detect fast changing of voltage, leading to reduced power consumption, increased efficiency and improved system reliability. Additionally, the supervisor has adjustable power up/down time which prevents system damage due to catastrophic surges and spikes in power supply.

The supervisor has active-low reset outputs with power on reset (POR) and manual reset (MR) for improved system reliability and better control. The POR allows the system to keep and maintain the power on state once power is available. The MR also allows manual reset from a host processor and it is asserted whenMR pin transition from high to low.The supervision circuit ensures that the system is up and running at all times, preventing sudden loss of power. Additionally, the supervisor has watchdog timer with a programmable timeout period. The watchdog timer is used to trap and report system errors, ensuring system reliability.

PT7M6127NLC4EX can be used in system monitoring applications to detect over/under-voltage, over-current, open-circuit capacitor, power on reset and manual reset.
