The PTC08SAEN Rectangular Connector - Header, Male Pin is an 8-contact multi-neon network designed and developed for use in various industrial control and computer applications, including pulse and digital communication systems, data communication systems, display systems, storage interfaces, memory interfaces, input/output systems and peripheral control systems. It offers an extremely wide range of features, including flexible design and ease of installation, rugged mechanical construction, reliable electrical and optical behavior, and compatibility with a wide range of conventional and new technologies.

The PTC08SAEN is a two-piece assembly consisting of a Header (female) and Male Pin (male) with male contacts. Multiple contact points are accommodated on both the Header and Male Pin, providing reliable electrical mating of the components in any configuration. The combination allows easy assembly due to the wide range of compatible contact-tab configurations. The header and pin contacts are optically O-ring sealed, providing a secure moisture-resistant connection.

The two major components of the PTC08SAEN are the Header and the Male Pin. The Header consists of a molded, reinforced-polymer frame and two removable contact-tabs. Each tab contains two to three contacts, with two contacts being used for electrical connection and one for signal routing. Contact tabs can be replaced to match the signal routing required for a given application. Ground contacts are provided around the outside perimeter of the header.

The Male Pin consists of a molded, reinforced-polymer enclosure and multiple male contacts. The contacts in the Male Pin have a 1.7mm pitch that runs parallel to the length of the enclosure and terminate on both sides of the enclosure. The contacts are equipped with Gold plated metal, capturing springs and insulation to provide a high-impedance, noise-resistant electrical connection. When the proper voltage is applied to the mating contacts, a bright neon indicator is illuminated indicating proper mating of the two parts. The signal transmission between each contact is secured by the reinforced-polymer enclosure.
