Application Field
The PV275K4032T is ideal for circuit protection of AC/DC and DC/DC components exposed to a wide range of transient overvoltage scenarios. Working Principle
The MOVs consist of a mix of semiconductor and ceramic materials that are ceramic-coated with zinc-oxide particles. When the voltage potential is applied across the MOV, the zinc oxide particles are electrochemically charged, allowing electrons to flow. This current depends on how much voltage is applied. The price and higher surge rating makes it well suited for applications which require long-term protection. The PV275K4032T has a dissipation of 3.75 Watts when mounted on FR4 PCB board.
When the MOV is connected across the load, it starts to conduct current when the applied voltage reaches its point of breakdown.
