PXF620013 Application Field and Working Principle

The PXF620013 is a high-performance PXF oscillator designed to provide precision timing solutions for a wide range of applications. This oscillator features a frequency range of 8 to 40 MHz, an output impedance of 1.2KΩ, a low-jitter amplitude of 3.5 mV max, and a typical phase-lock loop (PLL) phase noise of -100 dBc/Hz at a 10 kHz offset from the carrier. The PXF620013 is designed to consume minimal power while producing superior performance.

The PXF620013 working principle is driven by a combination of a frequency-locked loop (FLL) and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). A FLL employs a digital Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO), which is set by a programmed frequency parameter to achieve optimal performance in the desired frequency range. The digital oscillator is then coupled with a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) providing additional stability and accuracy characteristics. The TCXO monitors the spring reference frequency and adjusts the VCO output to maintain it. Finally, an on-chip phase-lock loop (PLL) is used to compare the phase of the output signal with the reference signal. The PLL then adjusts the voltage of the VCO to ensure the phase is synchronized with the reference signal.
