Thyristors - TRIACs

A TRIAC is an acronym for a three-terminal integrated circuit, or “three-level alternator control.” This type of transistor is typically used to control appliances such as washers, dryers, TVs, microwaves, and air conditioners. A TRIAC is often used in place of a relay for circuit breakout applications. It has a three-pin base, typically labeled MT1, MT2, and Gnd. The TRIAC\'s three pins enable the circuit to switch between three single-phase configurations.

Q6012NH1LEDRP is a bi-directional, 4-amp Triac switch. Bianry-level firing circuits offer a high-speed response and accurate electrical service. The Triac Q6012NH1LEDRP is specifically designed for 12V DC small-motor switching and light dimming applications. Working Principle

The working principle of the Q6012NH1LEDRP Triac is similar to that of a general-purpose Transistor. It consists of three elements connected in series: a gate, a main current, and an auxiliary current. When voltage is applied to the gate, a current travels through the auxiliary current and main current, turning the Triac on and allowing current to flow through the gate-terminal. An external electric field accelerates the electrons in the layers of the semiconductor material stack, creating a current.

This current, referred to as the gating current, adjusts the internal electric field in the semiconductor layers of the Triac switch\'s main body, resulting in a voltage-controlled flow of current through the Triac. When the gate voltage is decreased (or removed), the current through the Triac is shut off, turning the Triac off. In other words, the Triac switch is turned on when voltage is applied to the gate, and turned off when the gate voltage is decreased/removed.

The Q6012NH1LEDRP Triac is designed to provide a maximum 4-amp switching current, with a maximum on-state voltage drop of 1.7V. by using it, you can eliminate potential loss of control or multiple switching operations of the same circuit with a single action. Moreover, the Q6012NH1LEDRP features maximum on-state current of 4A, a working Voltage of 625V (maximum) and a Maximum Total Gate Charge of 13.2nC.
