Optical Sensors are devices that use electromagnetic radiation in the visible region of the optical spectrum. Photointerrupters are one of the most common and widely used type of optical sensors, and Slot Type Transistor Output Photointerrupters are a subset of these. The QCK5 is a such device that are often used in a wide range of applications.
The QCK5
The QCK5 is a modular opto-coupler which contains a pair of IR LEDs and a pair of magnetic sensitive transistors. These components are housed in a weatherproof plastic housing and can be connected to various signal conditioning circuits. As the name suggests, the QCK5 is a dual channel opto-coupler which can be used to detect the presence of an external signal in both directions. The QCK5 is capable of detecting low frequency signals and will respond to both AC and DC supply voltages.
Applications

Working Principle

In the case of the QCK5, the intensity of the signal is detected by a pair of photodetectors, one connected to each of the two input channels. If the signal is above a certain threshold, the device will output a digital high signal indicating a successful sensing event.
The QCK5 is designed to be highly reliable, as the output of the device will remain unchanged until the signal reaches the threshold. Additionally, the device has been designed to be highly immune to noise and interference, in order to ensure reliable detection even in noisy environments. The QCK5 is capable of detecting low-frequency signals, and is suitable for use in a wide range of applications requiring reliable detection and position sensing.
