Panel Indicators, Pilot Lights

QS61XXG12 series are panel indicators, pilot lights which require external power to drive. A 0.5-μF (or higher capacity) capacitor needs to be connected between the earth and the power plug to reduce instantaneous power peaks and eliminate electromagnetic interference with other products. These indicators have a plug-in type design, so they are easy to install and maintain. The panel indicators, pilot lights are available in red, green, yellow, and blue installations that offer a miniaturized and attractive housing with simple wiring.

Working Principle

QS61XXG12 panel indicators, pilot lights have an LED inside for illumination. When the internal LED is not active, no current is passed through the circuit, and no illumination is seen. As the resistance of the LED is very low (under 1 ohm) compared to that of other components, the internal circuit can be simplified to a triangle form. When current is passed through the circuit, the LED will be "on" and illuminating.The panel indicators, pilot lights also have a resistor in series with the LED to limit the current when the light is switched "on". The resistor also helps to reduce EMI emissions, and the higher the value of the resistor, the weaker the emitted signal. Therefore, if a relatively high resistor is used, the light will be very dim but the EMI emissions will be reduced significantly. In contrast, with a lower resistor value, the light will be brighter but the EMI emissions will be higher.
