The QT160-D capacitive touch sensor is a low power easy-to-use capacitive touch sensing device that has many applications. It is perfect for use in interactive surfaces, human-machine interface, lighting control, and audio-visual control applications. It’s compact in size and small package size makes it especially well suited for space-constrained applications. The QT160-D requires no external circuitry or reference material, making it an ideal choice for reliable, cost-effective capacitive sensing.
The QT160-D can measure any object or surface with an area greater than the sensor’s effective area. It uses an oscillator to send out a signal which is then received by the capacitive sensor’s electrode. When a conductive material such as human skin or conductive sheet is present, the capacitance of the sensor changes. This change in capacitance is detected by the QT160-D, which then initiates an interrupt signal.
The QT160-D has a built-in threshold adjuster that allows users to customize the setup to their application. The adjustment allows the user to set the sensitivity of the sensor to a suitable level which gives the user great control and allows the sensor to react quickly and accurately. Additionally, the QT160-D has the ability to operate in a wide temperature range and operates at a low power level that allows it to be integrated into a variety of applications.
The QT160-D is designed to be robust and easy to integrate into a variety of applications. It has a wide operating temperature range of -10°C to +85°C, and a supply voltage range of 2.3-3.6V. It features a built-in MCU, several I/Os and has a detection range of 0-15mm. It also has up to 8 different address-able pins for connection with other devices such as LEDs, relays, and switches, to provide an easy-to- Implement HMI. Additionally, the QT160-D includes an on-board EEPROM which can be used to store settings and parameters.
The QT160-D uses a powerful Convert Self-Oscillation type technology which enables it to measure capacitance accurately and quickly. This technology uses an unpredictable time waveform as a reference wave and measures the response of a target relative to the reference wave. This method eliminates the need for externally adjusting the threshold or setting a reference resistors, and allows it to be used in a wide range of applications.
