Working Principle
The QT60168-ASG measures capacitance changes on the pins of a PCB, to detect the proximity of a user’s finger. The device uses natural capacitance and the capacitive touch screen has no need for power supply. When a finger approaches the surface of the touch screen, the coupling of the human body to the sensing electrode will change the overall capacitance, and the device will be able to detect the change.
The QT60168-ASG features several modes of operation, including self-cap, mutual cap, and active mode. In self-cap mode, the device sends an AC voltage to the sensing electrodes and measures the amount of coupled AC current. In mutual cap mode, the device sends an AC voltage to both the transmit (TX) and sense (RX) electrodes and measures the AC voltage across the sense electrode. In active mode, the device sends a DC voltage to the sensing electrode and measures the capacitance.
The device also has an adaptive threshold algorithm, which allows for the device to learn and compensate for environmental noise, as well as making it easier to accurately detect touch input. The device also has two low-power modes, allowing for low-power operation when the device is not in use.
