A DC-to-DC converter is an electronic power system that converts a source of direct current (DC) electricity from one voltage level to another. It is a type of electric power converter. R0.25D-1509/P-R Application Field and Working Principle

The R0.25D-1509/P-R is a monolithic DC-DC converter which numeralizes and boosts a wide voltage range input power, from 0.15V to 9V, to deliver a 3V or 5V output. Its ultra-low input voltage characteristics make it particularly suitable for applications with limited space, such as portable electronics and battery-powered devices.

The device follows a conventional buck topology converter architecture to operate. It uses an internal power MOSFET which switches at a frequency determined by an internal oscillator. The feedback control loop of the converter operates in Discontinued Conduction Mode (DCM). This allows the converter to reach high efficiency levels at light load. Although the device can deliver up to 0.5A of load current, its light load efficiency up to 0.4A is outstanding.

The device also features integrated overvoltage, overload, and short-circuit protection to prevent potential damage to the application. Additionally, it is available in various package options and can be operated up to an absolute maximum junction temperature of 125¡ãC.
